Indoor Season Opener!

It's finally comeback season!! We opened up the indoor season with a home meet last weekend which was AMAZING! Back in June I fractured my spine, I missed almost the whole cross country season and it was awful! I ran at the very end of the season but I had lost so much progress during my months of recovery so it was pretty rough. BUT, I am all healed up now and it's a new season, and that means comeback time. At our first indoor meet last weekend I opened up in the 3k, which is a little under 2 miles. I finally felt like myself again for the first time since my injury and it was the most amazing, freeing feeling ever. I ended up getting 2nd in the race and ran the 11th fastest time in ONU history.

June 2023
Coming back from such a major setback was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I have been an athlete my entire life and with a broken back I was not allowed to do anything, literally. I was more down in the dumps than ever before and I honestly questioned if I would ever get back to where I was before. Looking back 7 months later though I can see how far I have come and it is so inspiring. Throughout that awful experience I learned so much and grew so much, not only as a runner but as a person too. Nothing should ever be taken for granted!!!!
