Age doesn't start with a 1 anymore?!!?
BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!!!
This past weekend I turned 20 (Crazy I know!) Honestly going from having a 1 in front of your age to having a 2 in front of it is such a weird feeling... HOW am I not a teen anymore??I love love love birthdays, they are so fun!! I know really they're just another day of the year, but when you have people who love you surrounding you, it feels like such a special day! I have made the very best friends since coming to college, and they all just made me so happy and made me feel so special and loved and that is such a blessing.
My birthday was on Friday and we had a home track meet that evening which I was actually really glad about. I love track meets because first of all I get to run and that is what I am passionate about, but also all of my best friends are my teammates and what better way to spend your special day than with all your people!? On top of that, the race went well too! I am a distance runner to the core, but once a year our coach makes us run a short race and this was my week to run the short race so I had to run the mile (bleh)! HOWEVER... as much as I was dreading it, it was actually so much fun and I ended up getting third place and it slayed.
AFTER the track meet was over, me and my friends went to my boyfriends apartment and let me tell you he is so cute. He and his three roommates decorated their apartment with balloons and banners and we had cake and played games and it was such a great night with all of my people. Coming here from high school I did not have the closest group of friends, really only one good friend. I was nervous to come to college because I did NOT want it to be a repeat of high school, but it has been quite the opposite. Ada feels like home, my teammates are my family, and I could not be happier to be where I am right now. I feel so lucky to have entered this next year of my life alongside some of the best people I have ever met.
This was such a fun read! First of all, happy belated birthday! And secondly, I have had seriously scary thoughts about turning 20 recently. Like I'll just be going about my day and then boom it hits me and I'm thrown for a loop honestly! I'm so glad to hear life doesn't end just because there's no longer a 1 in front! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! I hope this is the best year yet for you! I completely understand the shock it is to finally graduate from your teen years. I turn 20 this year and part of me is absolutely dreading it. I guess that's part of growing up. Also, I was at your track meet on Friday! I am not sure if I saw your specific race, but I went to support one of my friends, Leah, in her race. I am so happy your race went well!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! This was such an uplift to read! I'm so glad that you found your core group of friends in college! I had a similar high school experience and was nervous about coming to college because of the same reason. Also, that is so fun that there was a track meet that day as well! I'm sure that was a blast getting to celebrate with your teammates!
