Hoppy Easter!

I LOVE Easter! I think what makes it so fun to me is that it means that spring and warm weather are finally coming! Easter has also always been a special holiday for me personally because of the religious aspect of it. The point of this blog isn't some big religious rant, but it does mean a lot to me because all of us are so special! There will never be a day that we aren't loved and knowing that is just so comforting to me. That's besides the point though!

This Easter was a little different because I didn't get home from St. Louis until 8:00 p.m. the night before. My family doesn't really do much for Easter, so I typically go celebrate with my boyfriend's family in Columbus. Luckily, he waited for me to get back to Ada on Saturday night and we hit the road as soon as I got back. I was kind of miserable for the whole drive because I was exhausted from the previous couple days and I had just spent about eight hours in a cramped van. I was also so very hungry and you never want to be around me when I'm hungry... it gets ugly. As soon as we got off the highway my boyfriend drove straight to the Panda Express drive thru. I cannot explain how much I love Panda Express, so after that I was a much happier girl.

When we got to my boyfriends house though, we were in for a little adventure. We walked in and one of the smoke alarms kept going off because it was out of battery (or so we thought). We spent the next HOUR on a wild goose chase to find which detector was going off. We both thought it was the same one, so my 4.0 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING boyfriend was going to switch the battery. Easy, right? This man thought it would be a good idea to just trade the batteries from the bad detector to another one, he literally just switched them. So of course the one with the now bad battery is continuing to go off so we just took it out of the ceiling altogether. Thinking we're in the clear, we sit down to eat our food that's cold by this point until not a minute goes by before another alarm goes off. We couldn't agree on which one it was so finally we took every single smoke detector out of the ceiling, just really hoping there wouldn't be a fire that night! After wandering the house taking every single one down, we HAD to be all good now, right? WRONG! There was STILL some sort of alarm going off. By this point we just couldn't stop laughing at the situation for a solid five minutes. Once we collected ourselves we took one more walk around the house, thinking maybe we just missed one. Turns out, we didn't miss a smoke detector but we did miss the carbon monoxide detector! I didn't even know those things could make noise! FINALLY, we unhooked that from the ceiling as well and got the silence we were longing for. Over an hour later, I finally got to eat my Panda Express!

The rest of Easter weekend was much calmer and all went to plan. We went to church on Sunday morning which was great, I love the church by his house so it's always great whenever I get to go there. When we got back to his house his sweet as can be mom hid Easter baskets for us which I thought was just the sweetest thing ever. They make me feel like I am part of the family and I could not be more grateful for them! We had a delicious easter lunch after all that and then spent the afternoon watching basketball, playing games and just hanging out!

I love being there and around his family so much so we totally procrastinated driving back to school. We finally left Columbus around 10:00 p.m. and made the drive back to Ada. It was such a wonderful weekend, especially as a way to end a great trip to St. Louis the days before. As amazing as everything was though, I had never been more exhausted in my life. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow that night.

  1. I love your funny smoke detector event! As lifesaving as those are in the event of an actual fire, they definitely can be a pain at times!! It sounds like you had a great Easter weekend despite that hiccup! I also am the same way without food, but it sounds like your boyfriend has learned that and came to the rescue haha!!
